Early 2017, Hasaan Kadli moved into his new home.

He was excited his new home came with a home control and automation solution.

His excitement did not last...

The old adage of “if you have to do something right, do it yourself” has never been truer. When Hasaan moved in, he found that the smart home did not really work as he expected it to and the vendor had used platforms and technologies that were incompatible with each other. 

And so, the journey began. Hasaan was always interested in technology and he took it upon himself to learn and commission his new smart home. With time, the more he learnt, the more he experimented, and ultimately he wanted to do more. 

Our journey as Modo began as there is a need in the technology industry for the customer to be heard. To give them exactly what they want and how they want it. And as we were looking for a direction of the company, we again drew from his personal experience. We want to negate the undue influences that we see technology have on people around us, which led us to Humane Technology. 

The goal of Modo is simply put, to design, make, and promote Humane Technology.

Modo is in the pursuit of technology that is mode of experiencing life rather than make it the means of experiencing it. Technology should better our lives and not rule it and that is exactly what we have set out to do.
