Founded in 1876 by Fritz Henkel in Maastricht Aachen, Germany Henkel holds global leadership positions both in the consumer and industrial markets, with brands such as Persil, Schwarzkopf, Loctite and Pritt. It has headquarters in Düsseldorf, Germany and has approximately 47,000 employees in over 120 countries, more than 180 production facilities and 10 major R&D sites worldwide.

In June 1923, the first delivery of adhesives was made from the premises of Düsseldorf, Germany. This milestone marked the birth of Adhesives Technologies business unit, in which Henkel is a global leader today. An integral part of the Adhesive Technologies is the division of construction chemicals, offering a wide range of special products and system solutions to meet and exceed the construction industry requirements, from consultants and professional applicators. This sector is continuously growing and that is why in 1986 Henkel acquired Ceresit, market leading thermal insulation and waterproofing brand. As a result, Henkel expanded its portfolio of chemical products for the building and strengthening its position in Eastern Europe, while expanded dynamically in Asia, Middle East and Latin America.
