1. AWAZEL MEMBRANE SHIELD 3, 4, 6 mm thick, Bituminous Protection Boards Description MEMBRANE SHIELD (MS) are durable, light- weight, semi - rigid and strong, bituminous protection boards, for shielding waterproofing membrane from site damage or puncture by back-filling material. MS are manufactured from selected fine aggregates bound in oxidized asphalt, and then encased between two layers of asphalt saturated glass fiber/composite mat, to form a semi - rigid, dense and strong board with high compressive strength capable of bearing typical foundation pressures. The high compressive strength of MS is capable of supporting the foundation reinforcements . Features • Mostly suitable for vertical applications • Resists penetration of back-filling materials and accidental damage from site operations • Pre-formed, easy to handle, quick to use and economical • Avoids the need for screed or masonry protection • Avoids delay; can be applied immediately after waterproofing membrane laid and inspected. • Improves the overall ability of the waterproofing system. • High impact and puncture resistance Function MS are typically used as a protection board for all types of vertical waterproofing applications. It provides permanent protection to most water proofing and dampproofing systems. Its high puncture resistance protects the waterproofing membrane from any impact by sharp aggregates during the back-fill process and other later settlements. Its own waterproofing characteristics will improve the overall waterproofing ability of t he system. Instructions for Application Displacement of the MS can be prevented by bonding with AWAZEL Adhesive Compound, AMG. On vertical applications such as retaining walls, MS should be spot bonded on to the membrane with AMG, prior to back-filling or concrete operations. As general practice, MS can be installed by torch bonding method also ( a very slight torching can be done on the membrane at particular areas and the Prptection Board shall be attached to the membrane ) MS can also be fixed by mechanical fastening methods. Health & Safety MS has no health hazard due to its use and applications. Packing MS are produced in sheets of 1 x 2 meters. Other lengths are available upon request. Storage & Material Handling Should be kept flat in original packing in a shaded area. Normally the pallets should not be stacked one over another.
