1. AWAZEL OXIDIZED BITUMEN 115/15 Oxidized bitumen 115/15 grade Description Oxidized Asphalt produced with selected petroleum asphalts, air - blown to the required specification without catalysts. Features • Highly stable during melting • High flash point • Ideal to use for tropical regions • Available in polyamide bags and paper kegs for easy handling • Conforms to BS 3690 Uses Used in Built - Up Roof (BUR) construction, man ufacturing of some modified asphalt system, installation of bituminous vapor retarder systems and for cementing insulation boards used in various types of roof systems. Besides being used on horizontal surfaces, it can used on inclines not exceeding 25 % s lope. Because of its higher softening point, this asphalt is recommended for use in tropical regions. Instructions for Application Asphalt for bonding layers of BUR by mopping or by the pour and roll method, should be heated to a temperature between 180 to 200 ºC. The use of a boiler fitted with a thermometer is recommended. Cleaning The asphalt can be removed from equipment and tools with kerosene or gasoline. Coverage Bonding Coat : approx. 1.5 kg/m 2 Flood Coat : approx. 3.0 kg/m 2 Health & Safety Personnel should wear protective masks, gloves and goggles during application. Precautions Care should be taken when heating the material to avoid over heating. Packing Supplied in 145 to 180 kg drums. Also available in cans ( 18 kg) and in paper Ba gs of 25 or 45 kg. Storage No special storing instructions for asphalt packed in drums, while asphalts packed in polyamide bags and kegs should be stored in a shaded area.
