SAB® Bonding PVA admix 218
PVA Bonding Agent
SAB® spadbond PVA 218:
Is an opaque aqueous white liquid, externally plasticized polyvinyl acetate emulsion of medium to high viscosity. It is an aqueous emulsion specially formulated for use as a bonding agent and as an additive with cementitious mixes to improve the mix properties.
SAB® spadbond PVA 218 is used in cementitious mortars, plasters, concrete, thin layer patch mortars, etc. to improve the waterproofing, wear resistance, durability and bonding properties.
ADVANTAGES
As Bonding Agent: SAB® spadbond PVA 218 will bond cement screeds, rendering and plaster to most sound surfaces such as concrete, stone and brick and new concrete to old without the need for hacking the surface to form a key. As Admixture: As an admixture in cements/sand and granolithic screeds:
PREPARATION OF SURFACE
MIXING
As a Bonding Slurry Coat: As per recommended dosage, add SAB® spadbond PVA 218 to premeasured quantity of water in a suitable container and stir well. Add cement slowly and mix well using a slow speed drill machine fitted with a paddle.
As an Admixture: Manual mixing is not recommended. Preferably a forced action mixer or low speed drill fitted with a paddle should be used. Weigh the cement and sand where required, into the mixer and dry blend together for one minute. Add the premixed SAB® spadbond PVA 218 and clean water. Continue mixing for 3 minutes to ensure complete dispersal into the sand-cement mix. Make any small adjustment to the quantity of clean water but do not significantly exceed the dosage shown below. Mix until homogenous material is obtained.
Repair Mortar Mix Proportions
Thickness 6 -40mm
10 litres of SAB® spadbond PVA 218
8-12 litres of water (as per the required consistency).
50 kg of Ordinary Portland cement
150 kg of sand.
Floor Screed- Mix Proportions
Thickness:30mm- 70 mm
10 liters of SAB® spadbond PVA 218
6-10 liters of clean water
50 kg of Ordinary Portland Cement 100 kg of fine aggregate.
The screed should be of earth moist consistency.
Renders-Mix Proportions
Thickness: 6mm -15mm
10 liters. Of SAB® spadbond PVA 218
6-10 ltrs of clean water
50 kg of Ordinary Portland Cement
100 kg of fine sand
The render should be cohesive and of earth moist consistency.
CURING
All cementitious mortars, render, screeds, repair materials modified with SAB® spadbond PVA 218 should be cured with mist water spray or moist curing by spreading wet hessian cloth or use of appropriate curing compound from ECOCURE range.
COVERAGE
As a neat bonding agent: 5-7 m²/litre/coat. Actual coverage depends on texture and porosity of substrate. As an additive for tile and adhesives, bedding mortars, sand-cement renders plasters and screeds. The dosage may vary from 10-20% by weight of cement.
PACKING AND STORAGE
5 Litres, 20 Litres & 200 Litres Drums
STORAGE AND SHELF LIFE
Store under cover, out of direct sunlight and protect from extremes of temperature. Storage life up to 12 months when stored in unopened containers as above. Failure to comply with the recommended storage conditions may result in premature deterioration of the product or packaging.
